The Privacy Act 2020 requires us, like any other agency in New Zealand, to tell our patients about how we use the personal information we need to carry out our functions. Your ‘personal information’ is any information that can identify or relates to you as an individual. Your ‘Health Information’ includes information about your health or disabilities and medical history. When we say ‘information’ we are referring to both your personal and health information.

This privacy statement tells you how Kawatiri Health collects, stores, uses and shares your personal and health information. We do not use, share or transfer information except as set out in this Privacy Statement. We respect the highly sensitive nature of our patients’ health information. All staff are committed to handling this information with skill and care to prevent any accidental or unauthorised disclosure.

We comply with the Privacy Act 2020, Health Information Privacy Code 2020 and the Health (Retention of Information) Regulations 1996.
