New integrated facility open

December 10, 2023

Buller Health Trust are delighted to advise that we have relocated our Coast Medical and Westport Dental practices to our new integrated facility on Bentham Street and we introduce our new healthcare identity, “Kawatiri Health.”

A New Chapter in Community Care
This move is a significant next step for the Trust in providing on-going complementary health services for the Buller community. We are thrilled to introduce Kawatiri Health as a testament to our ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of our community. This new facility reflects our dedication to providing accessible, high-quality care that meets the evolving needs of our patients.

The Trust acknowledges the need to grow and extend our services in order to be sustainable and will continue to explore options to enhance the services currently available.

Dr Silas Carey of Coast Physiotherapy will be transferring his practice with us into the new facility and in time we hope to welcome other visiting clinicians, which will enhance the health options available to our community.

Acknowledging our past, Embracing the Future
The Buller Health Trust is a charitable Trust set up by Buller District Council in 1997 when the only dental practice in Westport was closing. The Trust purchased the practice and has continued providing quality dental care ever since.

One of the key purposes of the Trust is to maintain health services in the district, so in 2020, when the only independent GP practice in town was also planning to close, the Trust decided to purchase it and began offering general practice medicine.

We remain committed to preserving the health of our community with modern facilities and an even stronger focus on patient-centred care through:

1. Comprehensive Services: Kawatiri Health will continue to offer a comprehensive range of medical and dental services. Our expanded facility enables us to provide an even wider range of healthcare options, all under one roof.
2. Collaborative Care: Our new facility promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among our healthcare professionals. This ensures that patients receive well-coordinated, personalised care tailored to their individual needs, and continuity of care.
3. Community Engagement: Kawatiri Health is deeply committed to engaging with the local community.

We have a skilled team focused on providing excellent service to our clients and the community. The team look forward to welcoming people to the new site.
